Join the Kings Academy of Performing Arts, a contemporary dance club based in Southampton, for an exciting range of dance classes for children from babies to 7 years old. Led by experienced and qualified dance teachers, our Lower School Programme is designed to spark a love for music and movement while fostering friendships among our young dancers.
For the tiniest dancers, we offer classes for babies from birth to walking age. This unique class includes 30 minutes of structured dance activities followed by 30 minutes of free play, all while enjoying some refreshing treats. It's a fantastic opportunity for your little one to explore the world of dance in a supportive and fun environment.
Our Pre-School Dance class is specially designed for children aged 18 months to 4 years. Led by Miss Jess and Miss Emily, this 45-minute class takes our little dancers on an exciting journey through the jungle, fairy tale lands, and even space! With a focus on building confidence, social skills, and ballet technique, this class encourages self-expression through dance and imaginative play.
In our Year R class, children aged 5–6 years continue to build on their confidence and social skills while being introduced to classical ballet technique, modern dance, tap rhythms, and even elements of acting. It's a nurturing environment where children can learn and develop valuable skills while having fun.
For children in Year 1, aged 5–6 years, our 80-minute class offers a more comprehensive dance experience. Led by our talented instructors, this class teaches classical ballet technique, modern dance, and tap rhythms, while also focusing on acting skills, social development, and confidence-building in a supportive environment.
Year 2 is the final level of our Lower School Programme, and it aims to refine skills and prepare children for the junior classes. In this hour and a half class, children will dive deeper into classical ballet technique, modern dance, and tap, ensuring they are well-prepared for the next level of their dance journey.
