Jane here, your trusty organiser. Just a quick heads-up on some important stuff at our local pools.

If you've got kids between five and seven, make sure there's a caregiver over 16 with them at all times. Kids eight and up need a caregiver around somewhere in the facility to help out if needed.

Look out for those wristbands for the five to seven-year-olds – green means they’re good to go in the learners' pool without you hovering, but orange means stick close.

The Cromwell Pool has all the info you might need, including FAQs on their website. It’s also decked out for folks with disabilities, with accessible changing rooms and entry points.

Thinking of throwing a party or need some swim time for a group? You can book the pool for private sessions, just check the busy times on their booking page.

For a fitness kick, NRG Health and Fitness Centre is on-site with more ways to keep in shape.

Don’t forget, the Alexandra Pool at Molyneux Park is another great option. It's got a 25m lap pool, therapeutic/learners' pool, spa, and an outdoor pool for the summer. Same hours as Cromwell Pool.

Check their website or give them a ring for more on the outdoor pool, like opening hours and prices. Casual swim options are plenty, with discounts for gold card holders, tertiary students, and community services card holders. Multi-swim passes and annual memberships? They've got those covered too.

As of 1 July 2023, just remember kids under five need to be within arm’s reach of a caregiver 16 or older, always.

Both Cromwell and Alexandra pools are top spots for swimming and fun in the water, for everyone from beginners to pros. With accessible facilities and friendly staff, they're your go-to places for fitness, relaxation, and family fun in Central Otago.
