Welcome to Crofton Shotokan School of Karate, an affiliated member of the Shotokan of England Karate Union (SEKU). Founded in 1976 by Alan Lewis, a 7th Dan black belt, our karate school is located in Stubbington, Fareham. We offer karate lessons for both children and adults.
Shotokan Karate is a highly sought-after form of martial art that offers numerous benefits for its practitioners. Our students have the opportunity to learn and develop self-confidence, mutual cooperation, respect, good manners/social skills, awareness and self-protection techniques, concentration, and flexibility.
At Crofton Shotokan School of Karate, our aim is to provide quality instruction for both children and adults. We believe in promoting health and fitness while giving kids the perfect opportunity to step away from the television and computer games. Karate is a great way for children to learn a new activity, stay fit, make friends, and most importantly, have fun!
With karate lessons available for children as young as 6 years old, our school allows them to attend courses and achieve gradings through the Shotokan of England Karate Union (SEKU). This not only keeps them active and socially engaged but also provides them with knowledge of self-defence and self-protection.
Our Chief Instructor, Alan Lewis, brings over 50 years of experience to our karate school. He has trained and been graded by some of the world's most senior and respected instructors, including Master Enoeda, Shirai, Kase, Kanazawa, Asano, Takahashi, and Kato. Alan and his instructors regularly attend the Shotokan of England Karate Union's instructors' classes under the guidance of Sensei Mick Dewey, an 8th Dan black belt with over 50 years of teaching experience and a former British Gold Medallist in karate. Sensei Mick has taught extensively throughout Great Britain, Europe, Brazil, and Japan.
Safety is of utmost importance to us. All our instructors are DBS checked and hold Emergency First Aid at Work Level 2 certificates. Many local families have already joined our karate school, and with classes for all ages, including adults, it is an excellent way for everyone to stay fit and active.
