Welcome to Craven Country Ride at Pot Haw Farm, a traditional Craven farmstead located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, between the historic Market Towns of Skipton and Settle. Run by three generations of the Coates family, the farm is nestled within the beautiful landscape of drumlins, which are low round rolling hills formed by boulder and clay deposits from the retreat of the last ice age. These unique formations give the local area its character and provide a scenic backdrop for our equestrian activities.
Pot Haw Farm has a rich history, previously operating as a dairy farm that processed and bottled its own milk until 2001. Since then, the farm has focused on raising Belgian Blue Cross Store Cattle and North of England Mule sheep, while also producing high-quality hay and haylage for the equine market.
One of the highlights of Craven Country Ride is Cravenbale Haylage. What sets us apart from other forage producers is our commitment to preserving and nurturing traditional hay meadows. These meadows may be less productive than modern grasses, but they are full of character and charm, with a blend of species-rich herbs and traditional grasses that make our haylage unique.
Craven Country Ride itself has quickly become one of the favourite off-road riding venues in the country. With almost 600 acres of land, we offer a great variety of well-maintained and interesting options for riders of all levels. Our aim is to provide excellent value for money, ensuring that riders have a fantastic experience while exploring the picturesque landscape.
For those who need short-term holiday livery for their horses, we offer the perfect solution. You no longer have to put off going on vacation because you have no one to take care of your horse. In addition to our equestrian activities, we also provide camping and caravan facilities. Our grass paddock includes hard-standing for five units and has plenty of electric points. With its level terrain, neat surroundings, and open views across hay meadows, it creates a wonderful spot for camping enthusiasts to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
