Cransley Sailing Club, located in the picturesque valley of Reservoir in New Zealand, is a volunteer-run club that has been thriving since its establishment in 1967. With its breathtaking inland sailing area, the club has earned a reputation as one of the most scenic spots for sailing in the county.
The club takes pride in its warm and friendly community and offers an impressive range of activities for its members. The competitive racing programme is a highlight, with races taking place every Saturday and Sunday from March to November at 2:30 pm and on Tuesdays from April to August at 7 pm.
In addition to racing, Cransley Sailing Club offers comprehensive training courses in various aspects of dinghy sailing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and even model sailing. As a recognised RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Training Centre, the club provides courses for dinghy sailing, power boat handling, and safety boat operation.
For those who are new to sailing, the club offers learn-to-sail programmes during the summer. These courses provide a supportive environment where participants can learn the basics of sailing under the guidance of experienced instructors. Testimonials from previous participants highlight the club's welcoming atmosphere and the joy of learning a new skill.
In terms of scheduling, sailing times vary throughout the year. From March to November, sailing takes place on the water from 2:30 pm to 5 pm on weekends and from 7 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays from April to September. Additionally, social buddy sailing and SUP sessions are held on Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, followed by a club SUP night from 6 pm.
Cransley Reservoir, known locally as Three Chimneys, serves as the perfect setting for the sailing club. Situated in Cransley, near Kettering, Northamptonshire and easily accessible from junction 7 of the A14, the reservoir was built in the 1880s to supply water to the nearby towns. Today, it spans approximately 75 acres and is under the ownership of Cransley Reservoir Wildlife Reserve CIC. The reservoir's diverse natural habitats, including forests and marshlands, support a wide range of flora, fauna, and wildlife.
To provide an immersive experience for visitors, the club offers a live webcam feed of the reservoir, allowing viewers to take in the stunning scenery. The club's contact information, including its address and email, is conveniently provided for those who wish to get in touch.
Cransley Sailing Club is committed to offering a rewarding and enjoyable experience for sailors of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned racer, a beginner looking to learn, or someone who simply wants to enjoy the stunning surroundings, Cransley Sailing Club has something to offer everyone.
