Over the years, Cove Sailing Club has grown and evolved, becoming a vibrant hub for sailing enthusiasts in the Cobh area. With a strong focus on competitive sailing, the club offers regular races for various classes, as well as hosting larger events such as the Cobh Peoples Regatta and the Cobh/Blackrock race. These events are open to all, catering to sailors of all levels and experience.
Despite not having on-shore facilities for many years, Cove Sailing Club has always maintained a strong presence on the water, providing ample opportunities for members to get out and enjoy the sport of sailing. With a particular emphasis on youth sailing, the club has seen a significant increase in junior membership since the opening of the dinghy park at Whitepoint, Cobh in 2009.
The history of Cove Sailing Club is deeply rooted in the maritime heritage of Cork Harbour, with the club's origins dating back to the early nineteenth century. The creation of the “Cork Harbour One Design” yachts marked the beginning of the club's journey, with the boats being raced and crewed by locals from Cobh.
Today, Cove Sailing Club continues to embody the spirit of community and camaraderie that has defined it for centuries. With a growing membership and a commitment to providing high-quality sailing experiences, Cove Sailing Club remains a cornerstone of the sailing scene in Cobh and beyond.
