Cotswold Sailing Club, located at Lake 9 (Spinnaker Lake) in the Cotswold Water Park, has been a hub for family sailing in the region for over 50 years. The club takes pride in its track record of producing successful dinghy sailors, who consistently excel at both regional and national levels. However, the club also prioritises the support and inclusion of novice sailors, regardless of age, encouraging them to join in on the fun of sailing.
The Cotswold Sailing Club is a family-friendly and volunteer-led organisation, with a strong emphasis on sailing as its core focus. What sets this club apart from others in the area is that it owns the lake, clubhouse, and surrounding grounds. This ownership grants the club a significant amount of freedom in offering its members various benefits and opportunities aimed at furthering the sport of sailing.
Membership applications are currently open, and those who align with the club's values and are eager to participate in all that the Cotswold Sailing Club has to offer are encouraged to apply.
Racing is a prominent feature of the club, with events taking place on Sundays throughout the year, as well as Wednesday evenings when there is sufficient daylight. This provides ample opportunities for members to engage in competitive sailing.
The club's facilities include a beautiful Cotswold stone clubhouse, which serves as a central gathering place for members. Adjacent to the clubhouse is a locked boat park, equipped with tie-down points for each berth. Inside the clubhouse, members have access to toilets, changing areas, hot showers (particularly useful during the Chiller series), and a fully-equipped kitchen. There is also a dry area with tables and chairs, ideal for socialising.
The clubhouse's patio area offers a picturesque view of the lake, while the large grass area that runs down to the water provides an excellent space for picnics during the summer months. On Sundays (excluding winter), the clubhouse features a manned galley that serves hot and cold drinks.
One of the standout advantages of being a member of the Cotswold Sailing Club is the round-the-clock access granted to the lake, allowing for leisurely cruising and providing novice sailors with the freedom to practise without feeling in the way of racing events on Sundays.
At Cotswold Sailing Club, it is clear that the love for sailing runs deep, and members are provided with a welcoming and supportive community. The club's unique ownership of its lake and facilities ensures that members have the opportunity to fully embrace and enjoy the sport of sailing in a way that few other clubs can offer.
