Subscriptions to a building fund were invited, and the Coonabarabran War Memorial Baths Committee was elected to raise funds for the construction costs. Despite facing challenges and shortages of funds, the Committee persevered and with the support of the entire community, they were able to make the project a reality.
Construction of the Coonabarabran Memorial Swimming Pool started in 1953, with local volunteers going above and beyond by generously assisting in transporting materials from Dubbo free of charge. Major fundraising activities took place over the years, including monthly subscriptions and approaching the Government for a grant. Finally, on November 9, 1957, the memorial pool complex was inaugurated, marking a significant milestone for the community.
Today, the Coonabarabran Memorial Swimming Pool stands proudly as a significant community landmark next to the Coonabarabran Visitors Information Centre.
