Miss Rhythmics Gymnastics Club and Dance Studio, located in Waitara, is excited to promote a local Gymnastics For All event. This event is perfect for those who are interested in competitive Rhythmic Gymnastics, a program offered by Gymnastics Australia.
The program follows the RG National Levels Program, which consists of 10 levels ranging from Level 1 to Level 10. Each level presents its own set of challenges, with Level 10 being the most difficult. Usually, gymnasts progress one level per year, although some may spend a bit longer in the same level to fully master the required skills. Of course, exceptionally skilled gymnasts have the opportunity to skip a level.
For beginners, Miss Rhythmics Gymnastics Club and Dance Studio offers Foundation Level 1 and Level 2 classes. These classes are specifically designed for girls aged 6 years and older and provide a supportive and enjoyable environment for young gymnasts to explore rhythmic gymnastics. In these classes, gymnasts will participate in rhythmic-gymnastics-style stretching, foundational ballet skills, and fun dance steps. They will learn basic body turns, balances, leaps, and pre-acrobatic elements. Routines using Free Hand, Hoop, and Ball apparatus are taught, and participating gymnasts have the chance to compete in Gymnastics NSW competitions and showcase their skills at the Miss Rhythmics End of Year Performance. It is recommended to attend at least 1 class per week, which lasts for 2 hours. However, for more effective learning and faster progress, 2 classes per week are recommended.
For gymnasts at National Level 3 and Level 4 (minimum age of 7 years), the focus shifts to establishing correct body techniques and mastering apparatus handling. The main objective is to build a strong foundation for future growth. The program includes exercises to enhance strength and flexibility, as well as more complex ballet skills, intermediate-level turns/pivots, balances, leaps, and pre-acrobatic skills. Gymnasts at this level also get introduced to the Ribbon and Clubs apparatus. They have the opportunity to compete in Gymnastics NSW invitational competitions and the NSW Junior State Championships, proudly wearing the beautiful club leotards. It is recommended for gymnasts at these levels to attend 2 classes per week, totalling a minimum of 6 hours. Additionally, ballet classes, Advanced Flexibility classes, and Advanced Dance classes are available for those who wish to further improve their performance and dance skills.
Moving on to National Levels 5 and 6, these classes are designed for intermediate-level gymnasts who have either progressed through Levels 3-4 or have experience in related disciplines such as dance or artistic gymnastics. The program at this level focuses on the individual development of each gymnast within a challenging yet enjoyable environment. Gymnasts in these classes work on improving flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination through a specialised stretching and conditioning program.
