Our GymStar program is designed to cater to both boys and girls who are looking for a recreational and competitive gymnastics experience. The program focuses on polishing the foundational skills laid in previous classes, while also increasing agility, flexibility, and strength. We place great emphasis on the execution of skills rather than difficulty, allowing gymnasts to develop resilience and improve their skill technique.
One of the highlights of our GymStar program is the opportunity to compete in gymnastics competitions. We provide a positive and supportive environment for gymnasts to showcase their skills and interact with their teammates. Our program accommodates GymStar levels two to seven, ensuring that each gymnast is placed in the appropriate program based on their ability.
At Moonee Valley, we offer an all-inclusive program that covers a range of apparatus including beam, bars, vault, floor, rings, and p-bars. We focus not only on skill execution and routines but also on the development of new skills. Our coaches work diligently to create individualised programs that challenge and facilitate safe progression.
Gymnasts in the GymStar program are expected to attend competitions in various locations across Melbourne. These competitions provide great opportunities for our gymnasts to develop and showcase their skills. The competition season typically runs between June and October, with most competitions held on Sundays. While participating in at least two competitions per year is encouraged, it is not compulsory.
Our GymStar programs run throughout the year, with breaks during holidays and public holidays. For GymStar levels three and above, gymnasts are required to attend two classes per week. This ensures that they have sufficient practice time to perfect their routines, develop new skills, and refine their technique.
We understand that GymStar is more costly compared to our recreational programming. This is because our GymStar coaches invest extra effort in creating individualised programs that foster excellence and challenge students to safely achieve new and complex skills. In addition to the regular class fees, GymStar participants are required to purchase items necessary for competitions and cover competition fees. Rest assured, these associated costs will be clearly outlined upon enrolment.
