The Combined Arts Wing Chun Kung Fu and Qigong Martial Arts School is a well-established training centre located in Hebden Bridge, near Halifax in West Yorkshire. Founded in 2006 by Marcus Watts, the school aims to provide traditional training for individuals of all ages and backgrounds in an inclusive, open, and friendly atmosphere.
As part of the Ching Mo Wing Chun Association and an affiliate of the Lotus Nei Gong School, the school offers instruction in Wing Chun Kung Fu and Qi Gong, two popular Chinese martial and internal arts.
Wing Chun Kung Fu, also known as Ving Tsun, originated in Southern China and gained popularity in the West through the teachings of Grandmaster Ip Man. It is a practical and efficient system that emphasises natural body mechanics instead of relying solely on muscular force. Students who learn Wing Chun Kung Fu can expect to develop improved flexibility, strength, coordination, concentration, mental well-being, self-esteem, and confidence.
The school provides comprehensive learning resources for Wing Chun Kung Fu, including classes, teaching syllabuses, and opportunities for further training. They also delve into the history of Wing Chun, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of this martial art form.
In addition to Wing Chun Kung Fu, the Combined Arts School offers Qi Gong classes. Qi Gong, pronounced as 'Chi Gong,' is a form of Chinese Health Exercises that has been practised for thousands of years. It focuses on creating an intimate connexion between the mind, breath, and body during practise. By refining posture, alignment, and breathing, practitioners can improve the efficiency of their own energetic body, leading to better health and a deeper internal awareness.
Sifu Marcus Watts, the founder of the school, has studied Qi Gong with various teachers and is a qualified Qi Gong/Nei Gong teacher under the Lotus Nei Gong School of Daoist Arts.
The class schedules for Wing Chun Kung Fu and Qi Gong are conveniently arranged on different days of the week. Wing Chun Kung Fu classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays, accommodating all levels from beginners to advanced practitioners. Qi Gong classes take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, with different time slots available for various experience levels. It is important to note that the minimum age for Wing Chun and Qi Gong classes is eighteen years old.
Individuals interested in joining the Combined Arts Wing Chun Kung Fu and Qigong Martial Arts School are encouraged to contact Sifu Marcus Watts for information on class availability.
