The founder of Combat Athletics Academy is Mark Tucker, an experienced martial artist who began his martial arts journey in 1983 with Judo. He later joined the Royal Marines, where he continued practising Judo alongside Boxing. After leaving the Royal Marines in 1994, Tucker was introduced to Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts by Bob Gilchrist. Over the years, Tucker has travelled the world, training with high-level instructors such as Guro Dan Inosanto, Paul Vunak, Rick Faye, Erik Paulson, Daniel Lonero, Yuri Nakamura, and Rick Young.
Tucker's expertise extends to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, for which he received his blue belt from Royce Gracie in 2003 and his black belt from professor Pedro Bessa in 2012. He is also trained in Pekiti Tirsia Kali as a Lakan Guro Auorthorised Team Leader, Jeet Kune Do Concepts, Jun Fan Gung Fu, Muay Thai Kick Boxing, Grappling Arts, Panantukan Boxing (MKG Method), and Rapid Assault Tactics (RAT).
In addition to his own training, Tucker has travelled globally, teaching unarmed combat to various military and law enforcement entities, including US Forces, NZ Forces, UK Forces, UK Police, and close protection operatives.
