During the months of June to August, Coll Golf Course is open for play. To access the course, players can head to the Coll Hotel bar, where the friendly bar staff will guide them towards the collection bottle that displays the various fees. The system is based on trust, and players are encouraged to make a small donation to the club if they require clubs, which can be borrowed from the shed near the first tee.
Additional donations can be made at the bar for this purpose.
Getting to Coll Golf Course is easy. From Arinagour, players can take the right fork at the bottom of the hill, opposite Coll's Community Centre. They can then follow the road until they reach a T-junction, where they should take a left turn and travel approximately 500 metres. The first tee will be visible on the right-hand side at the crest of a small hill.
Players can conveniently park by the side of the road at the gate to the field. It is important to close all gates behind you as the golf course is located on farm land.
Coll Golf Course operates in an informal manner with no clubhouse, steward, or starter. The smooth functioning of the course relies on the honesty of players. Green fees can be paid in advance at the Coll Hotel, where a large bottle is available on the bar. Various membership options are available, including annual, weekly, and daily memberships, catering to different preferences.
By paying the fees, players contribute towards the upkeep of the course, including equipment, repairs, petrol, and diesel, ensuring that the golf course remains a delightful source of enjoyment for both locals and visitors.
The option to hire clubs is also available through David Moore, who can be contacted when he is on the island. Guests can inquire at the hotel to check if he is available and find out how to reach him.
