At Collective Heeling, we acknowledge the importance of cultural diversity and the historical roots of the Heels Dance genre. We operate on the traditional and unceded territory of the lkn Peoples, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations. We recognize our responsibility to advance reconciliation and are committed to listening, learning, and collaborating in the spirit of accountability.
The Heels Dance genre has been inspired historically by many cultures, including the African Diaspora, Latinx, Queer Communities, and the Sex Work Profession. As participants in and appreciators of these cultures, we are dedicated to dismantling societal systems that aim to oppress them.
