Hey sports community,
Gary here from the organising team wants to share a bit about Clyne Golf Club in Swansea. If you’re looking for a spot to play golf with a fantastic view, this is the place. Established back in 1921, the club marked its 100th year in 2021 – quite a milestone!
Designed by the legendary Harry Colt, the moorland course is a real test for golfers at any level. One of the best parts? You get to play on grass tees and championship-quality greens all year round.
Clyne Golf Club has earned its stripes as one of the top courses in the British Isles. It’s even on Peter Alliss’s list of the 200 Best Golf Courses, and there’s a bit of history with the Alliss family. Percy Alliss, Peter’s dad, was the first professional at the club. Pretty cool, right? The club’s reputation is top-notch, ranking in Wales’s Top 30 Courses by Golf World and Top 100 Golf Courses.
Wales Golf named Clyne Golf Club the “Golf Club of the Year” in 2019, and they’ve hosted some big championships like the Wales Under 16s and 14s Girls and Boys Championships. Plus, they’ve also been the venue for the South Wales Girls Championships, the Glamorgan Men’s County Championship, and more.
But what really sets Clyne apart? The views. You’ve got Swansea to the east, the Bristol Channel and Mumbles to the south, the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons to the north, and the Gower Peninsula and Cefn Bryn to the west. It’s like golfing in a postcard.
If you’re thinking of making a mini-break of it, the club’s got you covered with the Somerfield Lodge. It’s a 4-star B&B right on the course with six ensuite twin rooms. Opened in 2013, it’s been getting rave reviews on TripAdvisor ever since.
Gary wants everyone to know that Clyne Golf Club is all about giving both members and visitors a memorable experience. With its amazing views, rich history, and top facilities, it’s a gem in Swansea.
Hope to see you out on the course!
Cheerio,
The Organising Team
