Le Club de Karat Maskoutain, located in Saint-Hyacinthe, is a proud affiliate of the city and a member of various esteemed karate associations, including the Association de Karat Shotokan, Japan Karate Shoto Federation, Karat Qubec, and Karat Canada. Specializing in Karat Shotokan, the club offers classes for both children and adults, focusing on the mental discipline, physical exercise, and self-defence aspects of karate.
The word “karate” means “empty hand” in Japanese, symbolizing the use of natural body weapons in combat. Beyond self-defence techniques, karate fosters mental strength and character development through the mastery of hand and foot techniques to control an opponent. The club's ultimate goal, inspired by founder Gichin Funakoshi, is not victory or defeat, but the perfection of its practitioners' character.
The Club de Karat Maskoutain hosts events throughout the year, with the next one scheduled for March 1st during the school break. Please note that there will be no classes on March 5th and March 7th. The club's newsletter subscription is available exclusively to active members, providing updates on news and upcoming events.
The dojo, centrally located at cole Ren St-Pierre, welcomes members of all ages and experience levels. Training also takes place at Dojo cole Lafontaine, offering convenient options for students. The club's chief instructor, Ricardo Ferro, brings a wealth of experience and training with some of the most respected Shotokan instructors globally. Senior instructor Lucie Hbert, with her extensive background, adds a unique perspective to the club's teaching team.
For those looking to join a supportive and esteemed karate community in Saint-Hyacinthe, Club de Karat Maskoutain offers a welcoming environment for students to learn and grow in the art of Shotokan karate. Thank you to the club's sponsors for their continued support of our young athletes. For enquiries and registration, contact the club via email or visit the dojo locations for training sessions.
