Newport Boat Club, the local Sailing club in Newport, is thrilled to promote an upcoming Sailing event that is sure to excite all sailing enthusiasts in the area. This event is perfect for those who are passionate about sailing and want to experience the thrill of being out on the water.
Club Rowing is an exhilarating activity offered by our esteemed rowing section here at NBC. Our rowing section has a rich history, dating back to 1999 when Ceibwr Rowing Club merged with Newport Boat Club. Our members have the privilege of rowing out of Parrog or from Traeth Mawr (Big Beach), where they are treated to awe-inspiring views of Carn Ingli as they navigate towards Pen Dinas (Dinas Head) or Pen Morfa (Morfa Head).
To make this experience even more exciting, our club owns three magnificent Celtic longboats - Tonnau Glas, George Eaves, and Angharad D J. These traditional fixed seat rowing boats can accommodate four rowers and a cox. While our primary focus is on fixed seat rowing, we also embrace all types of rowing, including kayaks and sliding seat rowing.
Our rowing activities take place throughout the year, with a particular burst of activity from March to October. During this period, we schedule rowing sessions on various nights of the week and weekends, always mindful of the tides. We encourage people of all ages to join us and give rowing a try, as long as they have a reasonable level of fitness. And here's the best part – the first two rows are absolutely free!
For those who develop a real passion for rowing and thoroughly enjoy the experience, we offer plenty of opportunities to row for leisure or even compete in our exciting club events and races. We take pride in regularly participating in coastal events and races along the stunning Welsh coast. But that's not all – we also embark on thrilling journeys to incredible locations such as Ireland, London, Scotland, and France.
Anyone seeking more information about this event or rowing in general can get in touch with us at 07786 568807 or 07531 814469. We are always happy to answer any questions and provide the necessary guidance. Visitors are more than welcome to join us during our rowing sessions, but we do encourage regular rowers to become club members. Membership ensures you have insurance coverage through Welsh Sea Rowing, with an additional cost of £15.00.
So mark your calendars, grab your oars, and get ready for an unforgettable Sailing event with Newport Boat Club. We can't wait to share this unbelievable experience with you!
