Alex, the organiser, wants to share an update with the sports community about Clissold Park Skatepark, also known as Clissold Wheels Park, in London. Opened by Freestyle in December 2010, the park faced potential closure in early 2014 due to vandalism. Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated local crew of skaters, it was able to reopen in June 2014 after repairs.
The skate park features two concrete bowls side by side. The smaller bowl has a long back wall with three bowled corners and two hips, while the larger bowl has a unique V-shape with three steep hips and wide bowled corners. Their proximity allows for transfers between the bowls, offering additional skating opportunities. The clean-up efforts have made the bowls smooth and fast, with seamlessly connected corners.
Bowl skaters will enjoy spending a relaxed afternoon at Clissold Park Skatepark, with transitions and even spine transfers to try out.
The skate park is open outdoors with no fixed opening or closing times. It is located at Clissold Park, Green Lanes, London, N16 9HJ. You can easily find it on Google Maps or by following directions from nearby train stations like Stoke Newington, Manor House, or the Kings Crescent Estate bus stop.
Inside the park, there are amenities such as toilets and an on-site café. Additional facilities, including more toilets and cafés, are available just a 5-minute walk away within Clissold Park.
Recently, Clissold Park Skatepark has partnered with Jackpot Peanut Butter and released the Design and Development Guidance for Skateboarding. Any updates on the park's status concerning the coronavirus pandemic will be available on the website.
Clissold Park Skatepark is part of The Skateparks Project, an organisation offering free advice and resources for councils and communities interested in building skateparks.
