Join Caroline Arnold Sports Therapy Tai Chi and Pilates, a local Pilates club located in Barrow-in-Furness, for an exciting Clinical Pilates event. In our small class setting, with a maximum of 12 participants, you can expect individual attention and modification as needed. Our highly qualified instructor, a graduate Sports Therapist, will lead you through pilates exercises modified for the rehabilitation setting, all while adding a touch of humour to keep things interesting.
Clinical Pilates is all about improving the quality of your movement patterns, with a strong focus on postural correction. Our method follows the principles of concentration, control, centering, flow, and efficiency of movement, which can have a positive impact on your overall fitness and well-being. In our classes, you will engage in exercises and movements that train your body for core control, spinal movement and flexibility, breath coordination, and shoulder and limb alignment.
Maintaining a stable core is key to maintaining proper posture, control, and balance, ultimately reducing the risk of injury. The best part is that Clinical Pilates is suitable for both men and women of all ages and can greatly benefit individuals with back pain, poor posture, joint pain, sports injuries, arthritis, stress-related illnesses, and even those preparing for or recovering from pregnancy.
Our classes adhere to the guidelines set by the NHS and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for managing lower back pain through exercise. In our Clinical Pilates classes, you can expect to engage in aerobic activity, receive movement instruction, strengthen your muscles, work on postural control, and improve your flexibility through stretching.
For newcomers, we require an initial assessment to discuss any medical history or conditions that may be aggravated by Pilates. During this assessment, we will evaluate your posture, strength, balance, flexibility, and suitability for the class. Basic exercises will also be taught to assess your strength and stability. If you are already using Pilates for general fitness or have previous experience, we will be happy to discuss which class suits you best.
