Located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Clear Creek Hot Springs is a hidden gem for those seeking a unique and relaxing experience in nature. The journey to the hot springs is just as enchanting as the destination, with a picturesque 54km drive along the Harrison East and Clear Creek Forest Service Roads. Surrounded by an icy stream of snowmelt, the hot springs are a delightful surprise at the end of a fun mountain drive, providing a perfect opportunity to cool off in the wilderness.
The history of Clear Creek Hot Springs dates back to the 1950s when Ruth Larsen, wife of the wealthy lumber magnate Henry Larsen, first placed tubs at the site. Ruth, known for her adventurous spirit as a gold prospector, established a home near the springs and created the original wooden tubs fed by thermal springs in the rocks. Over the years, more visitors discovered the hot springs and new tubs were added, providing a rustic and serene setting for relaxation.
To reach Clear Creek Hot Springs, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended due to the rugged terrain along the forest service roads. However, many visitors have successfully made the journey in 2-wheel drive vehicles as well. Once you arrive, a short walk along a pathway of logs leads you to three hot tubs nestled in an enchanting old-growth forest. While the hot springs are more accessible than some others in the area, they still offer a peaceful retreat to soak in while surrounded by the beauty of the forest and mountains.
Along the drive to Clear Creek Hot Springs, you can enjoy spectacular views of Harrison Lake and other natural wonders in the region. Highlights include Rainbow Falls and Bear Creek Falls, which can be seen from the road or explored up close with a short walk.
