The training and provide guidance and support to the younger swimmers. It is a great opportunity for the swimmers to learn from experienced athletes and build camaraderie within the club.
To join the Squads, interested swimmers must be competent in swimming three lengths of the pool without any breaks. This ensures that they have the necessary endurance and skill level to participate in the more advanced training sessions. The Squads provide a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to continue their swimming journey and improve their techniques while also staying fit and making new friends.
The sessions for the Development Squad (B) are held on Monday from 19:00-20:00, Thursday from 18:15-19:15, and Sunday from 07:30-09:00. There are also additional sessions on Wednesday from 18:00-19:00 and Saturday from 07:30-09:00 for aspiring swimmers, by invitation only. For the Competitive Squad (A), the sessions are held on Monday from 20:00-21:00, Wednesday from 18:00-19:00, Thursday from 19:15-20:45, Saturday from 07:30-9:00, and Sunday from 07:30-09:00. There is also a Competitive Team session on Thursday from 20:45-21:15, by invitation only.
Clacton Swimming Club (Clacton Sharks) believes in each swimmer achieving their personal best. It is not about being the best in the club, but rather about improving and surpassing their individual goals. The coaching team, comprised of dedicated volunteers, are committed to guiding the swimmers to swim to the best of their abilities and improve their stroke techniques.
Membership to the Squads is open to swimmers as young as 6 years old. This allows young swimmers to continue their progress after completing the Academy programme or lessons from other providers. The Squads offer a supportive and encouraging environment where swimmers can develop their skills, gain confidence, and aim for personal excellence.
