About
Frank, the organiser at City Shorinji Kempo, runs a top-notch martial arts club in London focused on practical self-defence. Here, players learn effective techniques like blocking, striking, joint locks, and throws to hold off bigger opponents using the principles of physics and pressure points.
But it's more than just self-defence. Frank's classes offer a solid workout, mixing circuits and padwork to keep you fit and let off steam. Beyond the physical, there's a big focus on mental strength through meditation and philosophy. You'll find mutual respect and cooperation are key.
City Shorinji Kempo welcomes adults, 18 and up, of all fitness levels. If you're keen to make new mates and pick up some self-defence skills in a friendly setting, this is the place for you. Classes are held every Tuesday from 18:00 to 20:00 at Finsbury Leisure Centre, Clerkenwell.
Thinking of giving it a go? There's a free trial class to get you started. Just wear something comfy like your gym gear, and bring a water bottle. Showers are available, so a towel might come in handy too.
Class fees are £12 for adults and £8 for students/unwaged per drop-in session. Prefer a monthly deal? It’s £40 for adults and £30 for students/unwaged. Payments can be made via card, cash, or bank transfer.
Regulars need membership and insurance through the British Shorinji Kempo Federation (BSKF). Frank offers beginners their first month of membership free, so you can try out the classes with no strings attached. After that, annual BSKF membership costs approximately £55 for adults and £44 for students.
Join City Shorinji Kempo with Frank and dive into a journey of physical and mental growth. Ready to start?
