As the organiser, Dave wants to share an update with the sports community about the City of Birmingham Indoor Bowls Club.
The club is based in Birmingham at Billesley Common and has a longstanding history, having been established in 1947. It has been at its current venue on Pershore Road, a converted WH Smith Do-it-all store, since 1985. This building now serves as a lively indoor bowls and community centre.
Managed as a Private Club by an elected Committee, the club operates in a welcoming setting within Billesley Common, offering a friendly atmosphere to both members and visitors.
For the 2023/2024 season, the club will open its doors from 20th September 2023. Office hours are available on the club's Opening Times page. Non-members can book rinks during pay and play sessions by calling the club. If the office is unmanned, the answer phone is continually monitored for prompt responses to messages or emails.
The club’s address is Bowls Club, P.O. Box 18438, Birmingham, B28 1FR. Facilities include a café-bar area and a function room, providing comfortable spaces to relax and socialise.
Additionally, the club is part of South Birmingham Sports Village Ltd, showing its dedication to promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle in the community. The club was previously located at Stirchley Indoor Bowling Centre for 29 years until March 2014 before moving to its current home.
Membership fees for the 2023-2024 season are £55.00 for full membership (ages 19 and over), £20.00 for youth membership (ages 10-18), and £5.00 per year for social membership (introduced by a CBIBC member). Rink fees vary: full members pay £3.50 for a 2-hour session and £5.00 for a 2-4 hour session. Youth members pay £2.00 for a 2-hour session, and non-members are charged £6.00. Bowls can be hired for £1.50 per session.
