Cityliners

Cityliners Dance School, located in Sheffield, New Zealand, offers a fun and welcoming environment for individuals of all ages to learn the art of Line Dancing. With a primary focus on teaching beginners and improvers, the school aims to keep both the brains and bodies of its students moving since its establishment in 1987.

The classes at Cityliners are designed to be COVID-secure, ensuring the safety of all participants. Ample room for social distancing is provided, allowing students to enjoy their dance lessons without any worries. Currently, there are two daytime classes available for enrolment.

The Tuesday class takes place from 1 to 3 PM at the Frechville Community Centre on Churchdale Road. This class welcomes beginners and improvers of all ages and offers a friendly atmosphere to learn and have fun. Students can expect to dance to a wide variety of genres of music, adding to the enjoyment of the class. Additionally, the centre provides plenty of car parking space for the convenience of attendees.

The Thursday daytime class runs from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Healthy Living Centre on Barlow Road in Staveley. Similar to the Tuesday class, this session is open to beginners and improvers and offers a warm and supportive atmosphere. Students can expect a diverse range of music genres to dance to, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience. Glenys Dawson, the dedicated teacher at Cityliners Dance School, boasts an impressive background in the world of dancing. With over five decades of teaching experience since 1969, she is a qualified teacher in Ballroom, Latin, and Old Time dancing. Glenys holds qualifications in the International Dance Teachers Association and the United Kingdom Association of Professional Teachers of Dancing. In addition to Line Dancing, she has also taught Sequence dancing, Rhythmic Fitness, and Tap Dancing.

Glenys founded Sheffield City Liners in 1987 and possesses an Associate level qualification for Line Dancing in the IDTA and UKAPTD. She is a respected member of the Guild of Professional Teachers of Dancing.
