Community building will provide a space for social programs, annual events, sports programs, and community gatherings. The CCA's strategic plan outlines objectives such as completing the building, operating it sustainably, initiating new social programs, organizing annual events, running sports programs, and increasing membership to enable new programs.
Citadel Outdoor Rink is a key feature of the community, maintained by dedicated “Ice People” who flood and maintain the ice on a full-size outdoor hockey rink and a free skate rink. The rink is open to residents of Citadel as well as other communities, with free lessons offered to those interested. The rink is a hub for community activities, providing opportunities for residents to come together and engage in recreational activities during the winter months.
In addition to the outdoor rink, Citadel Community Association also offers tennis courts for residents to enjoy during the warmer months. The Association hosts annual events such as a Stampede Breakfast, a Winter Gala, and Kids/Tots Summer Programs to bring the community together and foster a sense of pride and spirit among residents.
Overall, Citadel Outdoor Rink and the facilities provided by Citadel Community Association play a crucial role in enhancing community pride and spirit in Citadel. The efforts of volunteers and the support of the community contribute to creating a vibrant and connected neighbourhood in Calgary.
