Welcome to Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool, a charming public swimming pool located in the heart of Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds. Established in 1870, this pool is a true gem and is run as a charity by dedicated volunteers, all for the benefit of the community.
Situated on Riverside Walk, next to the beautiful Cirencester Park, the pool offers a picturesque setting for a refreshing swim. The pool itself features a main pool with a depth of 1. 8m and a smaller paddling pool with a depth of 0. 75m, perfect for young children.
The pool area also has a delightful patio where visitors can relax, and a tuck shop selling drinks and snacks.
One of the highlights of the Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool is the water itself, which is supplied from a natural spring. The water is heated to an average temperature of 26C, ensuring a comfortable swimming experience for all. Whether you're seeking a leisurely swim or a more intensive workout, the pool offers a range of activities to suit everyone.
For general swimming sessions, the pool offers weekday morning sessions that can be booked in advance. There are also drop-in swims available for families and individuals on weekday afternoons and all day from 10:30am on weekends. No pre-booking is required for these sessions, simply turn up and pay at the gate.
For those who prefer to swim in lanes, the pool offers dedicated lane swims for adults. There are fast, medium, and slow lanes available, ensuring a suitable pace for all swimmers. Pre-booking is required for these sessions.
In addition to regular swims, Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool also offers aqua aerobics sessions every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. These fun and energetic exercise classes are led by instructors and accompanied by music, making them a popular choice among visitors.
The pool also hosts inclusive swims on Sunday mornings during school term time, as well as an additional session on Tuesdays during the summer school holidays. These sessions are specifically designed for individuals with specific requirements who may find swimming with large groups to be daunting.
For parents with pre-school aged children, Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool offers two sessions on Tuesdays during school term time, as well as one session during the summer school holidays. During the second session, aqua aerobics takes place in the main pool, accompanied by music.
Please note that the pool is located in a pedestrianised area and does not have on-site parking. However, there are several public car parks conveniently located nearby in the town, most of which only accept card payments.
