Chongshindo

Chongshindo Martial Arts School, located in Walsall, is a long-standing and reputable institution that has been serving the local community for the past 71 years. The school, which was established by renowned Grandmaster Soke Brian Dossett, offers a range of martial arts disciplines including freestyle kickboxing and Ju Jitsu.

The school is led by two experienced and highly skilled Senseis, Richard Russell and John Skeldon. Sensei Richard, despite being 71 years old, continues to defy expectations and regularly competes and achieves new milestones in his martial arts journey. His determination and passion for the sport are evident in his teaching style, and he serves as an inspiration to students of all ages.

Sensei John, on the other hand, is a dedicated instructor who teaches at Sutton Coldfield Girls School on Wednesday evenings. His coaching style has been recognised and praised by the grading officers, and he recently earned his 4th Dan through rigorous training and assessment.

Chongshindo Martial Arts School also boasts a team of senior instructors who have undergone intense training and examination to receive their respective Dan grades. In particular, Steve Pride and Gary Taylor have recently been awarded their 5th Dans, while Neil Alcock, Ian Maye, and Emily Constantine have achieved 4th and 3rd Dans respectively.

The school not only focuses on training and skill development but also actively engages in community-based initiatives. In December 2014, instructors and students participated in a non-stop kickboxing event to raise funds for The Kelli Smith Appeal, a local charity supporting a little girl fighting cancer. In total, they were able to raise 1444, with plans to donate more in the future.

As Chongshindo looks towards the future, they continue to foster a strong sense of community among their students of all ages. Their dedication to teaching and promoting the martial arts disciplines is evident in the growth and success of their students.
