Body, Bowls England. We adhere to their rules and regulations and participate in various Wiltshire Leagues. Our club has a rich history, with the Bowls Green being established in 1923. It is believed that Welsh Miners played a significant role in its development.
At Chippenham Park Bowls Club, we have a strong focus on both competitive and social bowling. We compete in various leagues and also encourage our members to participate in external tournaments as ambassadors of our club. Our fixture calendar is diverse, comprising mixed, men's, and ladies' events throughout the season. In addition to competitive matches, we also organise social bowling events such as fish and chip evenings and mixed club competitions, fostering a friendly and social atmosphere within our club.
We are committed to promoting the sport of lawn bowls and welcoming new members of all ages and genders. To facilitate this, we offer Friday evening Bowls Instruction sessions overseen by our dedicated coach. These sessions are open to all and only require flat soled footwear, as we provide the necessary equipment. This initiative has been highly successful in attracting newcomers to the sport and ensuring they feel comfortable and supported in their learning journey.
Our clubhouse is a welcoming space with a bar area stocked with a selection of fine ales. There is ample seating for spectating or socialising, providing a warm atmosphere for members and visitors alike. We offer separate changing facilities for both men and women, and we have recently added a spacious visitors' changing room to address any overcrowding concerns. Additionally, our newly fitted kitchen is operated by our Catering Manager and her team, who prepare delicious teas and suppers for our guest bowlers.
Membership at Chippenham Park Bowls Club is open to all, and there is an option to join as a social member if desired. The membership fee for a full season of bowls is 70, with a prorated fee available for late joiners. Equipment lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Social membership is available for a fee of 5.
