Fairlight Beach Rockpool Swim Club, known as Manly Andrew 'Boy' Charlton (MABC) Swim School, offers a fantastic swimming program for individuals of all ages and skill levels. With lessons available from Monday to Saturday, this swim club is committed to providing a comprehensive swimming and water safety initiative to prevent drowning and promote safe aquatic activities.
Their program focuses on developing strong and effective swimming technique while also ensuring that participants acquire essential survival and water safety skills. With a variety of classes tailored to different age groups and abilities, MABC Swim School has something for everyone:
Parent and Child Water Familiarisation Classes: Designed for children aged 6 to 36 months, this program offers an introduction to water safety and learning to swim. Parents can join their little ones in the pool as they learn important skills such as going underwater, floating, jumping, turning, and holding.
Preschool Learn to Swim: Specifically tailored for preschool-aged children (3-5 years old), this program consists of five levels. It builds water confidence and focuses on essential water safety skills like climbing out of the pool, resurfacing, floating, paddling, and working towards the development of freestyle and backstroke.
Learn to Swim and Stroke Development: This program is designed for school-aged children and features seven levels. It provides a balance of survival skills, stroke development, and stroke correction. The main goal is to increase participants' swimming strength and confidence in the water.
Swim Stars: MABC Swim School also offers a program specifically designed for children with special needs. These classes focus on building muscle strength, physical endurance, flexibility, self-control, and safety. Participants can choose between group or private lessons, with a maximum of three students in a group lesson.
Minis: This squad program serves as the entry level for swimmers who have completed Active Award levels and are transitioning to more advanced squads. The sessions focus on developing all four swimming strokes, introducing basic training techniques, learning how to dive from the blocks, correct turns, and using the pace clock. Swimmers interested in joining this squad must meet specific swimming times and session requirements.
If a participant is unable to attend a lesson, it is crucial to notify the swim school at least 30 minutes prior. In such cases, a family swim or practice pass will be issued for the missed lesson. Participants receive six family practice passes each calendar year, valid until 31 December. To redeem these passes, participants need to present their student card to the reception staff.
MABC Swim School also offers the option to suspend regular classes for up to four weeks each calendar year, ideal for participants going away on vacation. Please note that a 14-day notice is required for suspension, with the suspended lesson charged at a reduced rate of $5 instead of the full price.
For any cancellations, there is a cancellation form that needs to be filled out with 14 days' notice for processing.
