Avalon Rockpool, the local Swimming club in Avalon Beach, is excited to announce an upcoming swimming event. Manly Andrew 'Boy' Charlton (MABC) Swim School, known for its exceptional swimming programs, will be hosting this event.
The MABC Swim School offers a comprehensive swimming and water safety initiative aimed at preventing drowning and increasing participation in safe aquatic activities. Their main goal is to ensure that all participants possess the essential components of personal survival and water safety skills, while also developing strong swimming technique. With lessons running from Monday to Saturday, they provide a flexible schedule for everyone's convenience.
Their swimming program caters to individuals of all ages and skill levels. For babies and toddlers aged 6 to 36 months, they offer Parent and Child Water Familiarisation Classes. In these 30-minute sessions, the focus is on introducing water safety and teaching basic swim skills such as going underwater, floating, jumping, turning, and holding.
Preschool-aged children (3-5 years) can benefit from the Preschool Learn to Swim program. This program aims to build water confidence and teach essential water safety skills, including climbing out of the pool, resurfacing and floating, paddling, and developing freestyle and backstroke techniques.
For school-aged children, the Learn to Swim and Stroke Development program is available. With seven levels of swimming and water safety training, participants will learn survival skills, stroke development, and correction, helping them increase their swimming strength and confidence.
MABC Swim School also caters to children with special needs through their Swim Stars program. This program focuses on building muscle strength, physical endurance, flexibility, self-control, and safety. Swim Stars classes are available in both group and private lesson formats.
Swimmers who have completed Active Award levels can take part in the 30 minutes Minis program, which serves as the entry-level squad program. This program emphasises the development of all four strokes, basic training techniques, diving from blocks, correct turns, and use of the pace clock. Certain swimming times and session requirements must be met to be eligible for this squad.
In addition to their excellent programs, the swim school also understands that life can sometimes get in the way of attending lessons. They offer options for missed lessons, including the issuance of family swim/practice passes for those who notify the school at least 30 minutes prior to the missed lesson. Additionally, there are options to suspend classes for up to four weeks each calendar year and to request cancellations with 14 days' notice.
