Chester-le-Street Bowling Club

Welcome to Chester-le-Street Bowling Club, a friendly club located within Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street, New Zealand. Established in 1934, our club welcomes both male and female members and warmly invites anyone interested in playing to join us.

Throughout the outdoor bowling season, our greens have been in constant use, although the occasional rain has caused a few disruptions to our fixtures. Nevertheless, we have continued our popular twice-weekly “Roll-Up” sessions on Fridays and Sundays from 10am till noon. Casual bowling is also available during these times. For those who are new to the sport or looking to get back into it, we offer free sessions that can be arranged through our online contact form.

Our clubhouse, situated against the beautiful backdrop of Lumley Castle and the River Wear, provides a welcoming space for members to relax and socialise. The club is proud to have competed in three leagues in 2023: the Monday Pelton Fell & District League, the Tuesday Durham County Bowling Federation Veterans Section (Central Division), and the Thursday Sunderland & District Bowling Association – Howey League. We also share our facilities with the Durham Croquet club.

Please note that there are parking restrictions in the residential areas near the park, with only residents permitted to park there. Visitors are advised to park in the Riverside car park, where charges apply. It's important to note that the car park can be busy during school holidays or when there is a cricket match taking place.
