Bujinkan Ninjutsu is a comprehensive self-defence system that encompasses body movement, striking, and grappling techniques with or without weapons. It is a martial art centred around the concept of distance, where individuals learn to position themselves correctly based on the attack, timing, feeling, and environment. With its roots traced back hundreds, if not thousands, of years in Japan, Bujinkan Ninjutsu has undergone continuous refinement and perfection through real-life combat situations, making it applicable and relevant to modern-day scenarios.
At Chester Bujinkan, students not only acquire the practical skills necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones in various combat situations, such as hand-to-hand combat or encounters with weapons, but they also develop a sense of peace of mind, heightened awareness, and gradual enlightenment.
The art of Bujinkan Ninjutsu is credited to its 34th Grandmaster, Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, who studied numerous martial arts from a young age. Despite achieving high grades in different disciplines, Hatsumi felt that something was missing, leading him to delve into the techniques of old Japanese schools. After ten years of study, he crossed paths with Toshitsugu Takamatsu, the 33rd Grandmaster, who had mastered nine schools of Budo. Hatsumi became Takamatsu's student, absorbing as much knowledge as possible over the next 15 years until he was bestowed the title of Soke (Grandmaster) upon Takamatsu's passing.
To propagate this valuable training, Hatsumi established the Bujinkan, which has since expanded worldwide.
In Chester, Shihan Brin Morgan, an ardent student of Bujinkan Ninjutsu, founded the Shadow Warrior Bujinkan Ninjutsu group to impart the skills he has acquired during his regular visits to Japan to train with Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. Under the leadership of Garry Green and James Riley, the Chester branch of this international group conducts training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Regardless of age, ability, or skill level, everyone is welcome to join and experience the profound benefits of Bujinkan Ninjutsu. As a gesture of their commitment to spreading this martial art, the first lesson at Chester Bujinkan is free.
For those seeking further information, Chester Bujinkan provides a comprehensive list of resources, including books written by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, to deepen understanding and appreciation for the art form.
