Chelmsford Karate Club, also known as Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club, is a reputable and well-established karate school located in Chelmsford, New Zealand. The club was founded in 1967 by Sensei Charles and Sensei Dot Naylor, and it is proud to be affiliated with the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), the largest single style karate organisation in the UK.
At Chelmsford Karate Club, they offer a variety of classes suitable for all ages and skill levels. From their Shotokan Tigers Kids Classes for children aged 4 to 10, to their Family Classes that welcome individuals of all ages and grades, everyone can find the class that suits them best. They also have High Grade Classes for advanced students, Adults Only Classes for individuals aged 16 and above, and Personal Safety Courses that focus on practical self-defence techniques.
The club's Chief Instructors, Sensei Jane Naylor-Jones (6th Dan) and Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones (6th Dan), have extensive experience and are highly qualified instructors. They are both longstanding members of the KUGB, certified KUGB Instructors, Senior Assessors, and have undergone full DBS checks. In addition to the Chief Instructors, there is a dedicated team of qualified Black Belt Instructors who assist in teaching and upholding the highest standards of karate training.
Chelmsford Karate Club places great importance on instilling the true spirit of karate in its students. They emphasise the development of essential disciplines such as Character, Sincerity, Effort, Etiquette, and Self-Control. Through this training, students are able to achieve high standards both inside and outside the dojo.
