Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club, located in Stockport, has been an integral part of the local community for over 130 years. With a strong history and reputation, the club has become one of the most successful in the last 40 years of Cheshire cricket, boasting seven Championships.
The club currently runs five senior teams, all playing in the Cheshire League Pyramid. This includes the 1st XI, 2nd XI, and 3rd XI on Saturdays, and a 4th XI on Sundays. Additionally, there is an Over 40s XI that competes on Wednesday evenings.
For youngsters of primary and secondary school age, Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club offers seven junior teams. In 2018, they proudly introduced a girls team for the first time and are working towards having a girls team for each age group in the future. The club also coordinates nationally developed development programmes, such as Chance 2 Shine and All Stars Cricket, in collaboration with the Cheshire and England and Wales Cricket Boards. These programmes are aimed at introducing children to cricket and building their skills in a fun and engaging way.
Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club also values community engagement and inclusivity. They have developed a relationship with the Cheshire Cobras, a visually impaired cricket team. Each year, the club hosts a game involving various simulation glasses to raise awareness of visual impairments. This event serves as a great social occasion and is enjoyed by both teams.
The club has a distinguished Honours Board, with significant achievements in various competitions. The 1st XI has won the Manchester & District Cricket Association Stockton Trophy in 1935 and 1939, as well as the Cheshire County Cricket League in 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1984, and 1990. The 2nd XI has also secured victories in the Manchester & District Cricket Association Burrows Trophy in 1934 and 1971.
