The Charlottetown Yacht Club (CYC) is a bustling community of sail and power boaters located in Charlottetown, established in 1922. The club's primary goals are to promote sailing and power boating in Charlottetown Harbour and the Northumberland Strait, provide facilities for club members and visitors, and maintain a clubhouse and other amenities to enhance the well-being of its members.
CYC offers a wide range of activities and events throughout the year, including Junior Sailing Courses, annual regattas, and social gatherings. The club's facilities include a clubhouse, marina slips, and the Salt & Sol Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. Members can enjoy Monday and Wednesday nightclub racing, as well as various regattas and events such as the Peake & McInnis Opening and Closing Regattas.
In addition to recreational activities, CYC also values community involvement and offers opportunities for members to participate in volunteer work parties. The club has a private Facebook group for members interested in helping with maintenance projects and other initiatives around the club and marina.
CYC is also proud to have a real-time weather station installed in partnership with the Climate Lab at the University of PEI. This station provides valuable weather information for members, such as air and water temperature, wind speed and direction, and rainfall data.
The club is supported by various sponsors, partners, and supporters, including A-1 Vacuum, Capital Honda, and Subaru of Charlottetown. Their contributions help fund CYC's events and initiatives, ensuring a vibrant and engaging community for all members.
Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a newcomer to the boating world, everyone is welcome at Charlottetown Yacht Club. Join the tradition, come for the boating, and experience the camaraderie of CYC's vibrant community.
