The clubhouse provides a comfortable and welcoming space for members to relax and socialise.
It also serves as a meeting point for beginners and experienced archers to exchange tips, techniques, and stories. The club has four challenging ranges, each with 20 field targets, spread across the creek, hills, and surrounding forest. These ranges offer a unique and picturesque archery experience. It takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete each range, depending on group size.
For those looking to practise, there is an open field range with targets set at distances ranging from 10 to 60 metres. Additionally, there is a separate 20-metre static range, suitable for archers of all ages and experience levels. Club members are always available to assist newcomers to the sport, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment. One of the standout features of Moonterra Field Archery Club is its direct partnership with the NSW Forest Corporation.
The club's range is located in Olney State Forest, allowing members to enjoy the beauty of nature while pursuing their passion for archery. The club encourages members to explore more of the state forest and provides a link to the Forest Corporation's website for more information. Joining Moonterra Field Archery Club is a straightforward process. Prospective members must first join the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA) to ensure financial support and insurance coverage for both the individual and the club.
Membership applications are available online, and once proof of ABA membership is provided, membership to Moonterra Archery Club can be processed. Application forms are also available at the club during shoots, as listed on the club calendar. Membership fees for individuals are $100 per annum and for families, it is $160 per annum. The membership year begins in July, at the end of each fiscal year.
Upon becoming fully affiliated with the club, members receive the combination to the main entry gate, allowing 24/7 access to the club and ranges. This level of flexibility is rare among archery clubs. It is important to note that the club and ranges are covered with surveillance cameras, ensuring safety and security for all members. Moonterra Field Archery Club is conveniently located off the M1 highway, just past the twin servos at Jilliby on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
To reach the club from Sydney to Newcastle, take the Sparks Road exit from the M1, heading west to Hue Hue Road. At the crossroads, turn right onto Hue Hue Road, which will take you northbound. Pass the Buttonderry Waste Disposal compound and then turn left onto Woods Road, following it until the bitumen ends. Look for the sign for Moonterra and follow the road until you reach the clubhouse down the dirt track.
