

Cathedral Boxing Club, located in Brechin, is a non-profit organisation that aims to provide the best possible coaching and training for individuals of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport of boxing. Established in late 2020, the club is led by passionate and experienced boxers who prioritise safety and quality training.
The club offers a variety of programmes, whether individuals are looking to get fit, lose weight, enjoy a social environment, or become a competitive boxer. They cater to the needs and goals of each member, ensuring a personalised and supportive training experience.
The coaching team at Cathedral Boxing Club comprises experienced individuals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the club. Richard Keith, the co-founder and head coach, is Brechin's most experienced and successful boxing coach. With 52 wins in 65 amateur bouts fighting for Arbroath Boxing Club, his knowledge and skills are invaluable in providing top-notch coaching. Richard is responsible for appointing and maintaining competence in the coaching team.
He holds a Boxing Scotland Coaching Badge – Level 1, Hatton Academy Certified Coach – Elite Boxing Scotland Accredited Coach, and is a certified First Aider. Additionally, he is trained in Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport.
Marc Whitton, another co-founder, treasurer, and coach, has a long-standing passion for boxing and brings his experience to the coaching team. He supports the day-to-day management duties of the club and holds certifications such as Boxing Scotland Coaching Badge – Level 1, Hatton Academy Certified Coach – Elite Boxing Scotland Accredited Coach, First Aider, and is trained in Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport. Marc also serves as the club's COVID-19 Mental Health & Wellbeing Awareness Officer and COVID Officer.
Kerry Keith, a co-founder and coach, has been instrumental in setting up and running the club since its inception. She possesses a huge amount of coaching experience and works tirelessly to develop boxers of all ages. Kerry leads coaching for the younger classes and brings her expertise to the senior boxers. She holds a Boxing Scotland Accredited Coach Level 1 certification and is trained in Child Protection & Wellbeing in Sport.
Nicky Wilson, the club secretary, has also played a major role in setting up and getting the club running smoothly. Alongside the coaching team, Nicky ensures the day-to-day operations and committee management run efficiently.
Cathedral Boxing Club is temporarily closed due to recent flooding. However, the club has found temporary locations at Gardner Memorial Church, Brechin, DD9 6AW, and the Brechin Community Sports Campus. They will provide updates on social media and various WhatsApp groups to keep the CBC family informed.
