The course itself is located in a scenic area and provides a pleasant, easy-walking experience. However, don't be fooled by its gentle appearance – playing to your handicap can still be a challenge, especially when the prevailing west wind picks up. Many golfers make it a part of their golfing trip to Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Facilities at Carrickvale Golf Club include changing rooms, toilets, and lockers for your convenience. We also have a golf shop where you can purchase a range of golf accessories, as well as hot and cold drinks and confectionery to keep you refreshed during your game. If you don't have your own equipment, we offer club and buggy hire.
Free car parking is available, making it easy for you to access the course. We want to ensure that your experience at Carrickvale Golf Club is enjoyable and convenient.
As a fully affiliated member of the Scottish Golf Union, Carrickvale Golf Club allows you to obtain a full national handicap if you don't already have one. This means you can participate in official competitions and enjoy competitive golf, with the opportunity to reduce your handicap throughout the season. We have regular Gents and Seniors Medals, as well as other major competitions. Our Summer Singles and Fourball competitions are always well-supported, and the Club Championships take place in June.
Members of Carrickvale Golf Club also enjoy the benefit of courtesy tee times. Thanks to our special relationship with Edinburgh Leisure, our members can avoid the normal booking process for tee times by utilising the “courtesy times” reserved for club competitions. The courtesy times are posted in advance in the clubhouse, and these morning slots for four-ball play allow you to meet and play with new friends.
Our clubhouse provides a comfortable and inviting space for social events and private functions. We host cabarets, comedy nights, horse race nights, and dinners throughout the year. Members and the public can hire the clubhouse for their own private functions, such as birthday parties and anniversaries. While we do not currently offer our own catering, we are happy to welcome outside catering and can recommend various options.
