Capoeira & Yoga Academy

Capoeira & Yoga Academy is a family-run martial arts school and yoga studio located in Singapore. Specialising in Capoeira for kids aged 3-12 and adults, as well as Yoga for adults, the academy offers a unique experience combining combat, acrobatics, music, and dance in the Afro-Brazilian martial art form of Capoeira.

Capoeira has a rich history of being used to fight against oppression and slavery in Brazil, with practitioners disguising the combative movements as a dance to evade their oppressors. At Capoeira & Yoga Academy, students can expect a fun and empowering experience that challenges them physically, mentally, emotionally, and creatively, providing an outlet for self-expression.

There is no need for a martial arts background to start Capoeira classes at the academy, as classes are designed to be beginner-friendly while still offering a challenge for more experienced students. The kids' programme has been specially developed to help children develop coordination, control, strength, flexibility, and confidence while learning music and songs in Portuguese.

For those concerned about their fitness level or ability to perform acrobatics, the academy reassures potential students that backflips are not expected in the first class. With a focus on building a strong foundation of attack and defence techniques, instructors closely monitor each individual's progress to ensure safe and gradual advancement.
