Welcome to Capital Wing Chun - Practical Chinese Boxing, a top martial arts school located in Greenway, Canberra. Established in 2013, our school specialises in the teaching and practise of Wing Chun, a traditional Chinese martial art known for its effective close quarter combat techniques.
At Capital Wing Chun, we adhere to the core principles of Wing Chun, which include simplicity, directness, practicality, and economy of movement. Our instructors are highly skilled and passionate about passing on their knowledge to students of all levels. Whether you are a beginner or have previous martial arts experience, our friendly and supportive learning environment will help you improve and achieve your goals.
Each class at Capital Wing Chun is thoughtfully structured, ensuring variety and progressive learning. We start with a core warm-up set followed by a range of exercises, drills, training, and sparring sessions. To conclude each class, we practise a Wing Chun form, integrating the techniques learned throughout the session. Our exercises and drills are often performed in pairs, allowing students to learn from and support each other's progress.
One of the unique aspects of our school is the emphasis on practicality. We encourage open discussion, application, and interpretation of techniques to ensure that they work for each individual and in real-life situations. This approach enables our students to develop practical self-defence skills while deepening their understanding of Wing Chun.
In 2017, we introduced a kids class, providing children with the opportunity to learn martial arts in a safe and structured environment. We tailor our teaching methods to suit the needs and abilities of young learners, fostering discipline, focus, and self-confidence.
