The Can West Hockey club is based in Morinville, Alberta and offers a range of programs for youth hockey players. The club was founded in 2000 and has since grown to include 13 teams with a total of 220 players. In addition to the Spring hockey program that runs from April to June, Can West Hockey also introduced a Winter hockey program known as the Thunder, in partnership with the Hockey Super League (HSL).
Throughout the season, Can West teams participate in showcases and exhibition games in various cities across Alberta, including Edmonton, Red Deer, and Calgary, as well as rural communities such as Viking, Mundare, Stettler, and Penhold. The club prides itself on providing opportunities for players to showcase and progress their individual skills within a team setting, while emphasizing fairness, transparency, direction, and proactive communication.
As a member of the Hockey Super League, Can West Hockey adheres to the rules and regulations set forth by the governing body during the winter season. The club's mission is to develop player confidence and leadership qualities on and off the ice, inspiring players to perform at the highest level of their individual ability while upholding the values of sportsmanship and teamwork.
