Chris wants to welcome you all to the Canterbury Croquet Club, located at Polo Farm on Littlebourne Road in Canterbury, UK. Our club offers three laser-levelled lawns, a pavilion, and an equipment shed, all ready for your use. As part of Polo Farm Sports Club, we also neighbour hockey, cricket, and tennis facilities.
Croquet is a fun outdoor sport that suits everyone, regardless of age or gender. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, you’re more than welcome. For those new to the game, we offer coaching and equipment. There are two main types of croquet: Association Croquet and Golf Croquet.
Association Croquet is a bit like snooker or pool, requiring strategy and skill. Golf Croquet is quicker to pick up but no less challenging when it comes to accuracy and tactics. Both types can be played as singles or doubles, and many players enjoy both forms, as skills from one help the other.
One great thing about croquet is its handicap system, ensuring everyone has a fair chance to win. It's a game where smart thinking can triumph over physical prowess. Many start young, but it's an excellent sport to take up after retiring from more energetic activities. You can keep it relaxed or make it as competitive as you like.
The club organises events all year round, including regional and national leagues and tournaments for anyone who likes a bit of competition. These cater to all levels, from beginners to pros.
For those interested in joining, Chris encourages you to give croquet a go before committing. We also hold open days where you can learn more about the sport and its benefits. Membership is open to everyone aged 10 and above.
