Increasing oxygen delivery to the muscles. This helps to improve muscle strength, flexibility, and overall cardiovascular fitness. The buoyancy of the water reduces the impact on the joints, making it an ideal form of exercise for dogs with joint issues or recovering from surgery. The Canine Fitness Centre offers customised exercise programmes that cater to different needs.
For basic fitness, dogs can choose to exercise in either the pool or on the treadmill. This helps to build stamina and prevent injuries. Those looking to manage their dog's weight can take advantage of the zero-impact exercise in the water, which assists with weight control and avoids damage that land-based exercise may cause.
The centre also specialises in aquatic therapy for senior and arthritic dogs. This therapy helps to maintain mobility, fitness levels, and body weight. Dogs with neurological or orthopaedic conditions can also benefit from physical rehabilitation before and after surgery. By developing muscular fitness prior to surgery, dogs can experience a speedier recovery.
Post-surgery, the rehabilitation programme focuses on rebuilding and strengthening muscles to prevent further injuries.
Physical rehabilitation is gaining recognition as an essential part of the treatment programme for many conditions. It helps animals with limited mobility or orthopaedic issues to regain their flexibility and muscle strength. It also reduces pain and discomfort and improves the overall quality of life for these animals.
At Canine Fitness Centre, the staff is dedicated to providing personalised exercise programmes tailored to each dog's specific needs. They work closely with dog owners to develop an exercise and rehabilitation programme that best suits their dog. The centre features an indoor heated exercise pool with ramps for easy entry and exit, along with three aqua treadmills.
To schedule a fitness session, appointments are available from Monday to Friday, between 9. 00 am and 6. 00 pm. On Saturdays, sessions are accommodated until all dogs requiring a session are taken care of, usually by 1.
