The Canadian Forces Sailing Association (CFSA) in Esquimalt, located in Lang Cove on the eastern side of Esquimalt Harbour, is a recreational hub primarily for military personnel of CFB Esquimalt, their families, civilian members of DND, their dependents, and a wide range of employees of Federal Government agencies. The club, established 76 years ago, is a self-help sailing club that relies on the volunteer efforts of its members for governance, operation, and maintenance. The club is funded through membership dues, moorage fees, and food and bar sales, and is administratively supported by the CFB Esquimalt Personnel Support Program (PSP).
Operating under the authority of Canadian Forces Administrative Order 50-20 (Recreation Clubs) with approval from the Base Commander, CFSA follows the regulations and policies of CFB Esquimalt and is governed by its own constitution and by-laws. The club's primary objective is to provide training, recreational, and competitive sailing opportunities for serving military members and their families. With over 400 active members and berthage for sailboats, CFSA welcomes new crew on race days.
In addition to its sailing activities, CFSA also supports an online store featuring CFSA branded items, including T-Shirts, caps, mugs, and more. The club is constantly expanding its range of items and offers drop-shipping services to ship directly to members' homes. CFSA also hosts events and meetings such as the Spring General Meeting and the KEEL BOAT RACE PROGRAM REGISTRATION FORM, providing a space for community engagement and collaboration.
Overall, the Canadian Forces Sailing Association in Esquimalt is a vibrant and inclusive community that provides valuable opportunities for recreation, training, and camaraderie for military personnel, their families, and the broader community of Federal Government employees.
