The Campbell River Judo Club, founded in 1966 by Mr. James Ramsay, is a well-established martial arts club located in Campbell River, BC. Mr. Ramsay, a Scottish native, brought his expertise in boxing and self-defence to Victoria, British Columbia, where he established the club with a focus on the principles of Judo.
Judo, which means the “gentle way,” is a martial art created in Japan in 1882 by Kano Jigoro, emphasizing maximum efficiency and minimum effort.
The club offers ongoing registration and the opportunity for individuals to try a class to see if Judo is the right fit for them. The season is divided into two parts, from September to December and January to April, with fees for each half season. Judo BC fees cover the period from September to August and are non-refundable and not eligible for prorating.
