Cambridge Camkada Judo Club, located in Cambridge, New Zealand, has been in operation since 1963. The club is proud to have fully qualified Judo NZ trained Coaches, providing high-quality coaching and training to its members. With sessions held three times per week on Mondays and Wednesdays, the club offers a dedicated training space at the Cambridge Dojo.
The Cambridge Dojo is owned by the club and boasts a fully sprung floor, ensuring safety and comfort during training sessions. On top of the floor, the club has laid 40 mm high-quality Judo mats to provide a suitable surface for training. Additionally, the club has extra crash mats available for the big throws, ensuring the safety of all members during training.
The club is supported by a dedicated and passionate committee, including Deborah Gould as Secretary/Treasurer and Harry and Tracey Smith as Coaches & Committee members. Harry Smith, the Head Coach, holds a 3rd Dan and is a NZ Qualified Coach. He has been with Camkada Judo Club for 16 years and has obtained his 1st Dan in the UK and his 2nd and 3rd Dan in New Zealand. Tracey Smith, a 1st Kyu & NZ Qualified Coach, started her Judo career 15 years ago and has been instrumental in rejuvenating the club.
She is currently working towards obtaining her Dan Grade.
Deborah Gould handles the administrative tasks of the club, from processing correspondence to managing finances and invoicing. The club encourages members to reach out to their coaches or committee members, including Harry Smith, Tracey Smith, and Deborah Gould, for any inquiries or questions.
The club also keeps its members updated with the latest news and events through their social media platforms and the club directory. Regular updates are shared regarding term start dates, training schedules, and any upcoming events. Members are encouraged to attend working bees, such as the annual clean-up session, where all hands are welcome to contribute to maintaining the club's facilities.
