Byron Bay Skate Park & Recreation Precinct, Jarjumirr Park is an incredible addition to the vibrant community of Byron Bay. This skate park has been a dream for locals for over three decades, and now it is finally a reality.
Featuring a range of amenities and designed to accommodate all ages and skill levels, this park is sure to become a favourite spot for skateboarders and enthusiasts alike. The competition level skate park boasts a 10 ft skate bowl with a stunning waterfall and granite coping, providing an exhilarating experience for skilled riders.
For beginners and intermediates, there is a ramp and bowl area that offers the perfect space to practise and hone their skills. The plaza section is equipped with granite ledges, ideal for grinding and learning new tricks.
In addition to the skate park features, Jarjumirr Park also offers a variety of recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely game of table tennis or take on the challenge of the climbing boulder. Accessible pathways throughout the park ensure that everyone can navigate the area easily, including those who may have mobility restrictions.
One of the highlights of the park is the yarning circle, a gathering area that provides a space for connexion and storytelling. Cultural educational signage and artwork created by local Arakwal artists showcase the rich history and heritage of the area, making the park not just a recreational space but also a cultural hub.
The funding for this impressive project includes $2. 05 million from the NSW Government, with an additional $600,000 contributed by Byron Shire Council. This investment reflects the community's commitment to providing world-class facilities for its residents and visitors.
Constructed by Convic, a highly regarded skate park design company, the park underwent an extensive community consultation process. Upgrades began in June 2022, and construction was completed in May 2023.
Byron Bay Skate Park is conveniently located at 1 Gilmore Crescent, Byron Bay. Access to the park is available via Middleton Street, near the Byron Bay library.
