This provides members with ample opportunities to showcase their skills and compete at various levels. Matches are scheduled on both weekdays and weekends, ensuring flexibility for everyone's availability.
A highlight of the club's social calendar is the Club Night, held every Tuesday during the bowling season. This structured evening allows members to engage in inclusive roll-up games in a sociable and fun atmosphere. Following the games, participants can enjoy a delicious spread of sausage baps, beef burgers, and drinks. Club Night also serves as an excellent opportunity for newcomers to try their hand at bowls, meet existing members, and potentially become part of the club.
Byfleet Bowls Club has a rich history, with its roots dating back to November 30th, 1925, when it was formed as a result of a public meeting held in the village hall. The club's bowling green was opened on May 1st, 1926, with Mrs. Stoop throwing the first jack and Mr. Stoop delivering the first wood.
A tea and 'smoking concert' followed the opening, cementing the club's tradition of combining sporting excellence with social gatherings.
For those interested in delving deeper into the history of Byfleet Bowls Club, the club has provided research materials from “The History of Byfleet Parish Council” by Andy Andrews, including page 1, page 2, page 3, and page 4.
