Butterflies Dance & Performing Arts is a dance school and performing arts group located in Thirsk, New Zealand. Founded in 1999 by Rachel and Hannah Whiston, the school has been dedicated to providing high-quality teaching in various performing arts disciplines.
The school's mission is to create a safe and friendly environment where students of all ages and abilities can learn and develop their talents in all aspects of performing arts. The studio aims to be a positive and warm setting that encourages individual passion and spirit for the arts.
In 2007, Butterflies Dance & Performing Arts purchased a former police cells building, which was used for storage until 2014 when planning permission was granted to demolish the site and rebuild a purpose-built state-of-the-art performance centre. The new facility includes purpose-designed dance studios, music rooms, a wardrobe, dressing room, and an office area. The building is equipped with the latest safety technology and fire systems to ensure the comfort and reassurance of all customers. Ample parking spaces are available nearby, and disabled parking is available on-site upon request.
The staff at Butterflies Dance & Performing Arts are professional, friendly, and passionate about the quality and running of the school. The office staff handle the day-to-day operations, including keeping the staff and facilities up to date, advertising and organising events, and serving as a link to parents for communication and updates. The teaching staff are all experienced in their respective disciplines and are dedicated to the learning and development of every student. All staff members have received emergency first aid training and are briefed on fire and health and safety information.
