Bushido Kai Shotokan Karate Club is a martial arts haven in South Liverpool, and it’s been going strong since 1993. Geoff Cole, the club's organiser, has passionately crafted a space where people of all ages can come to learn and practise Shotokan Karate.
Geoff's main focus is on creating an atmosphere brimming with affinity, integrity, and respect. He believes in celebrating diversity and ensuring that everyone at the club has the chance to reach their full potential. This inclusive spirit makes for a welcoming dojo where students can thrive both mentally and physically.
One of the standout perks of training at Bushido Kai is the confidence boost it gives. By mastering self-defence techniques, students conquer fears and get fitter in the process. This blend of assertiveness and confidence does wonders for self-esteem.
Regular sessions at the club also do wonders for mind and body. Karate’s physical demands boost cardiovascular health, delivering more oxygen to the brain and making everyone sharper and more energetic.
Another key element is self-discipline. The journey in karate, from one belt to the next, demands patience, focus, and discipline. Students not only hone their physical skills but also build mental resilience, learning to manage their bodies, emotions, and reactions.
Running the show, you’ve got Sensei Geoff Cole, a seasoned Shotokan Karate practitioner. With over 30 years of experience and holding the rank of 6th Dan, Geoff has officiated at various competitions and guided countless students to success at all levels.
Bushido Kai has two dojos offering three classes a week. Everyone trains together – all ages and grades – and there are no membership fees, just a pay-per-class system. Training at least twice a week is recommended to progress through the grading system. If you're new, just drop the club a line before popping in.
The club is linked with the HDKI (Hombo Dojo Karate International), providing access to regional and national courses, competitions, and a network of experienced karate enthusiasts.
